Columbia Water Plant Upgrades

The City of Columbia will celebrate the completion of a 31-million-dollar upgrade to its McBaine Water Treatment Plant on October 26.

The project restores the plant’s capacity to treat 32 million gallons of water per day and replaces aging equipment to improve water quality and efficiency.

Originally, the project’s budget increased by 10 million dollars amid pandemic-related funding delays and rising construction costs.

The upgrades were funded through bonds approved by voters in 2018.

The dedication ceremony begins at 2:30 p.m. and will include remarks from city leaders and tours of the facility.
