Felony Assault Charge Dropped in Columbia Case

A felony assault charge has been dismissed against a woman accused of striking a Columbia police officer during a fight downtown in July.

Court records show a judge dismissed the charge against Tinoz’shia M. Harris without prejudice, citing insufficient probable cause. Harris had pleaded not guilty to the felony charge.

Her misdemeanor charges of interfering with an arrest and disturbing the peace remain pending, with a review scheduled for December second.

Police say the incident happened July 26th near Ninth and Walnut streets, where an officer responding to a fight deployed pepper spray before Harris allegedly struck him in the head.
