Real ID Act

A Senate Committee has advanced a proposal to bring Missouri into compliance with federal drivers license requirements.

Missouri law has prohibited the state from complying with the 2005 Real ID act, that set tougher proof of identity requirements due to the terrorist attacks on 9/11/2001.

Opponents have raise concerns about provisions requiring states to keep personal information about driver’s license recipient.

If Missouri does not become compliant, Missouri licenses will no longer be used as a form of identification by airport security beginning in January of 2018.
