Person Of Interest In Custody In Columbia Bank Robbery

A person of interest is in the custody of Columbia police following a bank robbery and bomb threat at a bank inside Hy-Vee on West Broadway in Columbia this morning. [Friday]

A man entered the store at around 11:20 and slipped the teller a note demanding money, and stating he had an explosive device.


The robber left, allegedly putting the device in a vehicle in the parking lot. It was safely detonated in a controlled manner.

Several schools were placed on a modified lockdown as a result of the incident, meaning no one is allowed in or out of the school building. All of the lock downs were lifted by 1:15.
