Hallsville Announces New Chief of Police

The Hallsville Board of Alderman has chosen a new Chief of Police, according to a statement on the city’s website yesterday. [Tuesday]

The board met in a closed session on Monday and unanimously voted to offer Andrew Van Hulten the position.


Van Hulten has served as the interim chief since the position was vacated earlier this month.

He previously served as a Military Police Officer with the armed forces before graduating from the Law Enforcement Training Institute. He joined the Hallsville Police Department in 2017.

An open house will be held Friday at 9:30 at City Hall. He will be sworn in at 10:00.
