The identity of the person found shot to death near the Boone County line last night [Sunday] has not yet been released.
Callaway deputies confirmed they responded to the 1500 block of Old Highway 40 just before 8PM. Upon arrival they found a deceased subject in an area business parking lot.
According to the sheriff’s department, the involved subjects had fled the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement.
Callaway County Sheriff Clay Chism says they are conducting the investigation out of the Boone County Sheriff’s Office as all of the leads are in the Columbia area.
Chism says Boone County and the Columbia Police Department are assisting in the investigation.
