The Special Olympics of Missouri will not host a Polar Plunge in Mexico this year.
Susan Stegman, Vice President of Development for the Special Olympics of Missouri, says interest in the event in Mexico has been waning in recent years.
Additionally, SOMO has no one in the staff position to plan the plunge. Stegman says that not having the plunge this year does not mean that it will not be back in the community at some point in the future.
The first Polar Plunge in Mexico was in 2015, and the number of participants has dropped every year. A total of 105 people plunged last year.
