A dispatcher with Audrain County Joint Communications is being honored for her assistance in helping deliver a baby.
In a post on social media, Lexi Friedli is credited for assisting a male caller to 9-1-1 saying that he had a woman in his vehicle that was in active labor and delivery was imminent.
Friedli had the caller pull over at the Highway 54 Package Store in Vandalia and relay her instructions to the expectant parents in the back seat of his vehicle.
Another dispatcher dispatched Van-Far Ambulance to the scene who arrived shortly after the healthy, breathing, crying baby girl was delivered.
This is the first time an Audrain County Joint Communications dispatcher has actually helped deliver a baby without any medical personnel on scene.
