Ashland Man Charged After Firing Shots During Burglary

An Ashland man is charged with assault in the second degree and unlawful use of a weapon after he allegedly fired a gun in an attempt to thwart a burglary on May 6.

Ashland Police report during the course of the investigation, evidence was observed and collected from the Trading Post Pawn Shop.

The evidence included statements from witnesses and those directly involved.

Police now say 25 year old Cody Scott McCracken did not discharge his weapon in self defense.

McCracken reportedly fired a warning shot into the air and then fired at the suspect’s vehicle.
