Mexico Public School staff along with community leaders gathered at Emmons Hall today [Friday] to hear Dr. Ruby Payne discuss social breakdown and how it impacts students and teachers.
Dr. Payne says classrooms are losing teachers rapidly because of a lack of tools to handle challenging students.
Dr. Payne offered strategies to help reduce anger, anxiety, avoidance and to help build trust between teachers and students.

Burlington Coat Factory is nearing completion in Columbia, with an opening set for July 25th. The retailer will be near the new Trader Joes that is currently being retrofitted into the old Macy’s location in the Shoppes at Stadium. Trader Joe’s is expected to open sometime this Fall.
Mexico Bulldogs basketball and academic star Reghan Smith will be signing her National Letter of Intent today at the Mexico High School Sports Complex. Reghan will play basketball at the Columbia College with the Cougars. The signing takes place at 2:45.
