The Missouri State Highway Patrol honored Julie Nordman and her husband Randy Nordman posthumously the Honorary Trooper Certificate today [Friday] in New Florence.
According to the nomination, Randy and Julie Nordman saved lives on March 7, 2016.
Randy Nordman was fatally shot by Pablo Serrano-Vitorino during an altercation that caused Serrano-Vitorino to lose the bullets from his semi-automatic rifle. He had killed 4 other men in Kansas City, Kansas less than 12 hours earlier.
Julie Nordman was able to observe what was happening from the house and report to law enforcement the direction the suspect had gone, allowing them to set up a perimeter that led to his eventual capture after a 17 hour manhunt in Montgomery County.
Pablo Serrano-Vitorino was found deceased in his St. Louis jail cell on April 9, 2019.
