High Winds Cause Power Outage and Debris In The Road In Mexico

Extremely strong winds in Mexico the cause of a power outage on the south part of town this morning.

Audrain County Emergency Management Director Nick Tietsort says crews are working on restoring power.

Tietsort says his department has been monitoring the situation.

Mexico Public Safety is reporting responding to numerous incidents of items in the roadway such as branches, trash cans, or outdoor household items.

The globe of a street light and street sign had become detached and were located in the roadway around the City Square.

A power line was pulled from a pole in the 400 block of South Clark and was hanging low.

According to an Ameren text alert power should be restored to impacted areas in Mexico around 1pm.
