More Details On Fatal Crash West Of Centralia

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is releasing more information on the fatal accident west of Centralia yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon.

An eastbound GMC 6000 truck driven by 53-year old Monte Hayes of Moberly had a left front tire blowout, causing pieces of the vehicle to separate.

The truck made an abrupt left turn and ultimately broadsided a vehicle driven by 24-year old Rachael M. Hultz of Madison on the passenger side, killing Hultz’s passenger, 30-year old Cassandra D. Simmerman of Clarence.

Other debris from the tire blowout struck a vehicle driven by 50-year old Gregory M. Keene of Sturgeon.

Keene and Hayes were uninjured in the accident, Hultz was taken to a Columbia hospital with serious injuries.

The accident happened at 4:10 on Highway 22 840 feet west of Angell School Road.
