Mexico High Academic Team Claims Second Consecutive Washington University Fall Academic Tournament Championship
The Mexico High Academic Team improved to 21-0 on the season after taking first place at the Washington University Fall Academic Tournament on Saturday.
Mexico A went 11-0 on the day.
They were led by seniors Camden Williams, Andrew Peuster and Lucy Gleeson who swept through the preliminary rounds with a 7-0 record.
Camden Williams was the tournament’s top scorer, while Andrew Peuster finished as the 3rd best in points scored at the tournament.
Mexico A will be back in action in two weeks at Columbia College for the MOQBA Fall Championship.
National rankings are expected to be released in the next two weeks.
Mexico B was led by junior AJ Leon, who finished 20th best with 32 points per game.
AJ was joined by Ash Lee, Robbie Lopez and freshmen Elliott DeVargas, Aaron Iman and Sebastian Matuz.
Aaron and Sebastian made their MHS Academic Team debuts.
Mexico B went 3-7 on the day, but ended the day with back to back wins.
Freshmen and Sophomores are back in action next Saturday in Hannibal for a Novice tournament.
