Firefighters Contain Centralia House Fire; No Injuries Reported

No one was hurt after a house fire broke out near Centralia Friday night.

Boone County firefighters were called to East Marshall Lane around 8 p.m.

Assistant Chief Norm Hinkle says the homeowners had a fire in their fireplace when they saw smoke coming from a wall.

Crews used a thermal imaging camera to find the flames and contained the fire within 90 minutes.

Firefighters used chainsaws to remove burning wall studs, limiting the damage to one bedroom.

The residents weren’t displaced.

A total of 12 firefighters, three engines, and two tankers responded.
