Simpson guilty in Hermann murder case

Guilty. That’s what a Franklin County jury decided in the murder trial of Kenneth Lee Simpson on Saturday.

In a trial that wrapped up considerably quicker than expected, Simpson, the Hermann man, was found guilty of murder in the fatal shooting of Hermann police officer Sergeant Mason Griffith in 2023. He was also found guilty of assault in the first degree in the shooting of Officer Adam Sullentrup.

Franklin County prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for Simpson.

The sentencing phase of the trial begins Monday.
