Smith trial set in deadly 2025 Holts Summit shooting
A pre-trail hearing yesterday saw a trail date of April 20th set for Heather Smith at the Boone County Courthouse.
Smith is charged in Callaway County in the 2025 fatal shooting of a woman outside of a Holts Summit apartment.
Smith is charged with second-degree murder, three counts of unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action and endangering the welfare of a child in connection to the shooting death of 38 year-old Kara Dills on April 13, 2025, according to court documents.
According to the probable cause statement, Smith shot Dills in the stomach after an argument with multiple people as Dills was walking away.
A Callaway County judge granted Smith a $150,000 bond on April 28, 2025, and she was indicted by a Callaway County grand jury in May of 2025.
