Columbia Woman Receives Multiple Charges for Assaulting Police, DWI

One Columbia woman made her initial appearance after an altercation with police while being arrested over the weekend.

Authorities received a report of a crash on Highway WW on Friday evening. The driver, 33-year-old Star Parker, was visibly impaired and did not turn off her engine.

Court documents report that multiple officers had to assist in getting her out of the vehicle, at which point she kicked one officer in the knee and scratched one officer with her fingernails to the point of bleeding.

The reports say that Parker also bit a policeman’s finger once at the jail and spat on a sergeant.

She has been charged with a felony count of Third Degree Assault on a Special Victim, as well as misdemeanor counts of Driving While Intoxicated, Resisting Arrest, Driving in a Careless Manner, and three counts of Assault.

She is being held without bond.
