A Columbia woman accused of killing a University of Missouri student in 2023 has been recommitted to the Missouri Department of Mental Health after a judge ruled she remains mentally unfit to stand trial.
Twenty-four-year-old Emma Adams is charged with second-degree murder and other offenses in the death of 21-year-old Samuel Clemons.
Investigators say Clemons was stabbed and that Adams allegedly attempted to burn his body in a fire pit.
Court records show Adams has been reevaluated every six months since her commitment in 2023 and has remained unfit for trial.
She has pleaded not guilty, claiming self-defense.
Her next court hearing is scheduled for January 2027.
