Missouri Cold-Weather Utility Protections

Missouri’s cold-weather utility protection rule takes effect Sunday, November 1st.

The rule protects customers from heat-related utility disconnections when temperatures are forecast to remain below 32 degrees during specified periods over a 72-hour window.

The protections remain in effect through March 31st of next year.

The Missouri Public Service Commission says customers also have access to extended payment plans and additional notification protections.

Customers 65 and older, along with people with disabilities, may qualify for additional assistance through their utility providers.
