In response to a second Illinois State Police trooper being killed while working along a highway this year, three Missouri state agencies are urging motorists to slow down and proceed with caution when approaching a stopped emergency vehicle.
The Missouri Department of Public Safety, Missouri State Highway Patrol and Missouri Department of Transportation are asking drivers to keep the safety of public servants in mind when traveling on roadways.
Missouri’s “Move Over” law requires motorists to yield right-of-way of emergency vehicles and switch lanes if possible. If not reduce speed and proceed with caution.
